We are currently looking for a Contractor/Web Manager to manage our organization’s website.  The position would be for 3 months and may be extended. 

 


Website management and support

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform day-to-day management of SVLG’s website.
    • Schedule, stage, and publish homepage slides for rotation on the organization’s home page.
    • Maintain a schedule and implement refreshed content regularly (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly), as needed.
    • Support SVLG’s Event team by keeping Events calendar current as well as event-specific page updates.
    • Add metadata for SEO compliance; participate in efforts to improve site performance.
  • Maintain web content management system and content library; experience with WordPress required.
  • Act as primary point of contact for identification and resolution of website performance issues.
  • Ensure the site is in full compliance with all state and federal regulations.


  • Required skills
    • Professional knowledge and experience with all standards and tools for Internet and web-related content delivery.
    • Highly proficient in HTML, CSS, WordPress, cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility.
    • Must be able to work effectively both as a team member and independently.
    • Strong understanding of search engine optimization and best practices preferred.
    • The ability to hand-code attractive, functional webpages
    • Strong knowledge of HTML, XHTML, mySQL, CSS, Wordpress, JS cross-browser/cross-platform compatibility.
    • Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), web standards and analytics.
    • Experience with basic image editing—crops, color, sharpening etc—in PhotoShop.
    • A fast home internet connection, or ability to get one (100Mb+), to allow for uploading video media remotely.

  

Ideal experience - 


  • Web/graphic design skill
  • Strong understanding of typography, grids and information hierarchy.
  • Strong writing/proofing ability
  • An interest in technology and/or politics
  • Excellent organizational skills and a track record of managing multiple schedules and tight deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and understand new concepts, tools, and markets.
  • A self-starter who can work independently and in a close-knit small team.

 

This is a Contractor role that will report to the Sr. VP of Communications for the organization and works closely with the Events team.  Terms are negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
